The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) issues special stamps and official first day covers entitled “Valentine’s 2025: Perfect Match” in celebration of Valentine’s Day on February 10, 2025.
Valentine’s Day is celebrated around the world annually where people show affection and love towards each other; May it be romantic, platonic, or familial. These are expressed through flowers, chocolates, greeting cards, gifts, and many more. Another way of showing love is through food, especially with Filipinos.
“Valentine’s 2025: Perfect Match” features a block of four stamps highlighting food pairing that symbolize love and affections as well as its whimsical nature. The stamps are inscribed with Filipino phrases: Liham ng Pag-ibig (Love Letter) featuring Sorbetes (‘Dirty Ice Cream’) and Monay (Bread) is a pair known for its sweet and soft texture that’s a fan among beating the tropical heat. Pagbigkas ng Tula (Poetry Recital) featuring Kape (Coffee) at Pandesal (Salted Bread) is a morning staple where the bread is dunked on coffee. Harana (Serenade) featuring Champorado (Chocolate Porridge) and Tuyo (Dried Fish) is a mix of sweet and salty, perfect for the rainy season while Paninilbihan (Servitude) features Puto (Rice Cake) and Dinuguan (Pork blood stew) is a mix of sweet and savory that makes up a hearty meal.
As the saying goes, ‘the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach’. Filipinos are romantic in nature, especially in the field of gastronomy with different flavors for every mood and occasion. These stamps emphasizes how Filipinos show their love through various ways and most importantly, food.
The Valentine’s Day 2025 will be available at the Philatelic Division of the Manila Central Post Office.
